Moving along …

on the construction front. The deck is mostly done except for some steps over on the left side, and a little more railing around the corner on the right. The weather was nice enough when our son, granddaughter and her fiancé were here over Thanksgiving weekend that we were able to eat out there for the first time.

The last of the siding!

Now that the siding (green, not gray) is done, they should be able to put up the rest of the railing around this end. The duct and furnace installation got started this week — though I wish it had been done sooner, given that we’re currently having the coldest weather yet! It was 17* outside this morning, and 47* in the new basement, so it sounds like we’ll make it 😉

The turkey soup turned out well – can you tell we like plenty of carrots and shiitake mushrooms in it along with some green peas, onions, celery and orzo?

  1. It is looking beautiful!!! I’ll bet you are chomping at the bit for them to finish. I love the porch! You will get some much use out of that when the temps warm up. I love it. Oh, and the soup looks mighty good, too;-D

  2. Wow, it is looking great!!! Well, both are. The addition looks like it will be used a lot once you’re able to “move in.” Hurray for major progress!

  3. I can just picture you sitting out there on the porch with your knitting, in warmer weather of course! I could go for a bowl of that soup right now. We are getting our first snow and ice storm of the season.
