Soup, stars & cartoons

We’re still recovering from Thanksgiving and the accompanying cold, which is getting better (cough, cough!). I just simmered the turkey carcass for a pot of soup today; it’s stock now, I just need to add onions, carrots, mushrooms, some celery and rice or pasta and it’ll be soup πŸ™‚

There’s still enough meat for more turkey and gravy, and a pan of Turkey Tortilla Casserole, which is the only recipe I can think of where I used canned soup instead of making my own sauce. This recipe is fairly close; I usually use 2 cans of Creamy Chicken Mushroom soup, broth instead of milk, chopped canned green chilis and a mix of cheddar and jack cheeses in my version.

I found a really neat night sky map from a link on the St. Louis Science Center’s website – you can change views, times and generally adapt it to any location.

If you like/love dogs, Draw the Dog has a new cartoon every day – I thought this one was especially funny πŸ˜‰

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

  1. Glad you are feeling at least a bit better. I love Draw the Dog!!!!

  2. I hope the turkey carcass soup worked its magic and you are feeling better. Will check out the night sky map. I wooed my husband by showing him constellations. He didn’t know what had hit him.

  3. I hope you are both feeling better! Your casserole sounds yummy. I just love poultry and green chiles together in almost any form.
